Bioeffective^® R is both more refined and less complex. It is composed entirely of a class of organic substances called polyprenols (long chain isoprenoid alcohols).

Polyprenols are naturally occurring precursors of dolichols which are found in all key organs of the human body. Dolichols play a major role in protecting cellular membranes, stabilising cell proteins and supporting the body’s immune system. They also act as coenzymes in the synthesis of polysaccharides and in protein-carbohydrate metabolism. They play a key role in the metabolic dolichol phosphate cycle. The pharmacological activity of polyprenols is based on their substitutive effect in the case of dolichol deficits observed with chronic inflammatory, degenerative and oncological diseases.

Although not yet fully appreciated by the wider medical community, the role of polyprenols in the prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative disorders is extremely significant.
